Bhamashah Award for Transform Lives Program S M Sehgal Foundation received the Bhamashah award and was recognized as Shiksha Vibhusan by the Department of Education, Government of Rajasthan, in a state-level function held at Jaipur on 12 October 2022, for work in schools under the Transform Lives one school at the time program. Mr. Navneet Narwal, associate director, Transform Lives, and Mr. Pawan Kaswan, program lead, Water Management, attended the event and accepted the award.
Department of Education Cabinet Minister Dr. B D Kalla presented the award in the presence of other government dignitaries. The foundation team has transformed the lives of schoolchildren in twenty government schools in the villages of Alwar district in the last three years. The transformation work in these government schools has provided safe and upgraded facilities to 8,591 beneficiaries: 4,208 girls, 3,988 boys, and 395 school staff, including teachers.

Global HWTS Network and HWTS Network, India are coming together for the annual Learning Exchange Workshop on November 10–11, 2022, at Gurugram, Haryana. Edda Sehgal Digital library inauguration A digital library in partnership with Trees for Life named after Mrs. Edda Sehgal, SMSF cofounder and trustee, was inaugurated at the Government Senior Secondary School, Sahudi village, Alwar, Rajasthan. Mr. Tikaram Jully, Cabinet Minister (Jail, Social Justice and Empowerment Departments), Government of Rajasthan, visited the library and interacted with the students. The digital library will act as an e-learning resource center for students, especially girls, as it has State Government curriculum class study materials, material for competitive exams, and audio-visual content. The learning materials are also available offline to avoid connectivity issues. Moreover, the provision of solar panels for the library addresses the issue of erratic electricity so that learning can continue without disruption.

World Food Prize Laureates SPEAK OUT at the Fifth Iowa India Summit The Mosaic Company Foundation and Sehgal Foundation in the US hosted an event at the World Food Prize International Borlaug Dialogue on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at the Iowa Event Center in Des Moines. Jaldhara VI water project inauguration and World Water Week celebrations Project Jaldhara VI, supported by Coca-Cola India Foundation was inaugurated in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, with the objective to provide safe drinking water for the community and water conservation for six villages in district Aurangabad. In addition to the construction of check dams in one village, five water ATMs are planned that will increase access to safe drinking water in these villages. The villages observed World Water Week by holding community meetings and gatherings to discuss ways to conserve water.

Ms. Arti M. Grover, senior program lead, Outreach for Development, spoke about the work of S M Sehgal Foundation at the India Development Coalition of America (IDCA) 17th Global Conference held virtually on October 15–16, 2022. The theme of the conference was “Exploring Innovative Approaches for Mitigating Poverty in India.” The presentation focused on the water management program and innovations.

Mr. Lalit Sharma, principal scientist, Water, Research, and Training, was invited as a keynote speaker by the Department of Hydrology, IIT Roorkee’s 9th International Groundwater Conference (IGWC2022) November 2–4, 2022, with a focus on “Effective Management of (sub)-surface Water Resources in Arid and Semi-Arid regions.”
