Women's Day celebrations International Women’s Day 2022, dedicated to the theme BreakTheBias, saw S M Sehgal Foundation staff organizing various field-level events where women came together to share their successes and learn from each other. COO Ms. Anjali Makhija’s interview on Women’s Day was aired on DD Kisan channel, where she shared her own empowerment journey as well as experiences of working with women at the grassroots. Principal lead, Outreach for Development, Ms. Pooja O. Murada, was invited to speak at an event by the Solid State Physics Lab of Defense R&D Organization. Her interview, facilitated by CREA, also aired on community radio Jamia, described the ways community radio has been instrumental in empowering women and girls.

Women’s Day honors for staff S M Sehgal Foundation's staff, Ms. Geeta, has been named as a changemaker for her work on water and sanitation by Apollo Tyres Foundation for their Ek Naam campaign, in association with CSR Box and Alliance Française de Delhi, where they felicitated eight change agents for their contribution toward women’s empowerment and gender equality. Ms. Kunti Gupta, team member from Muzaffarpur, and Ms. Mintu Devi, one of our local women leaders, were also awarded by NABARD Muzaffarpur on the occasion of International Women's Day at Muzaffarpur in Bihar.

World Water Day campaign S M Sehgal Foundation’s Water, Research, and Training team came up with a social media campaign focused on drinking water, highlighting the low-cost sustainable household water treatment and storage technology developed by the foundation team called MatiKalp. The series focused on describing the value of MatiKalp and how it is providing increased access to safe drinking water in rural villages. The Outreach team also recorded a special podcast by interviewing Mr. Lalit Sharma, principal lead, Water, Research and Training on this year's World Water Day theme "Making Invisible Visible."

Uttam Gram: Punas Village, Samastipur district, Bihar By Mati

In Punas village in Samastipur district, Bihar, a number of development activities on agriculture development, water management, and local participation have been undertaken by the foundation team and its partners in the short span of a few years (2017–2020). The village development committee that formed to take forward the development is taking keen interest in replicating and maintaining the interventions, so that 5,290 villagers will continue to receive the benefits of the project. Inauguration of Transformed School S M Sehgal Foundation successfully completed another school transformation project at village Kurthala, district Nuh, Haryana, with the support of Navisite India Private Limited. The inauguration event was held on March 4, 2022, at the Government High School, Kurthala. Ms. Archana Agarwal (CFO), Mr. Sandeep Barthwal (senior director, Operations), Ms. Suja Ajith (associate director, HRBP) and Mr. Ravindra Virdi (senior manager, Facilities) from Navisite attended the event. Education officers from Nuh and Tauru blocks participated along with key members of the school management committee and the village. The stimulating school environment has led to increased enrollment from 130 to 186 children, especially in girls (about 51%). As a result of which the school has been upgraded; and the enrollment increase, the highest in Nuh block, has been recognized by the Haryana State Government.

In September 2021, the FPO first engaged with the project team for the Bolstering Farmer Producer Organizations Program which is being implemented by S M Sehgal Foundation with philanthropic grant funding support from the Walmart Foundation.
